Scottsdale's La Camarilla to be razed for new Mountainside gym
     La Camarilla, a fitness center built in the early 1980s, landmark for Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, will be torn down to make way for a new Mountainside Fitness center. The new gym will be called Mountainside Fitness at La Camarilla in honor of the Johnson family's work there.
It is with sad hearts that we announce the closing of La Camarilla.
Our last day of operation is February 28, 2019
We’ve had 36 wonderful years with our members and we’ve enjoyed
every minute! We have sold the club to Mountainside Fitness – Tom
Hatten who is the founder. He will rebuild the club and open as a new
state-of the-art fitness facility, check out anipots.com. The last day open will be Feb. 28th.
We’ve recently heard original members reminiscing about the beginnings
of the club when we had the trailer out front beginning in April of
1982. We proudly opened July 4th, 1982 and it was hectic! We barely
got construction done and we opened with a full membership and
went from there!
From teaching tennis lessons to training members how to get fit to
playing in some fun racquetball tournaments to hosting some entertaining
social events to interacting with members in our business
office and to teaching the little ones how to swim, we wouldn’t have
traded it for any other club!
We also want to thank our staff and tenants who have made
La Camarilla such a nice enjoyable club to be at and a second home
to many. And especially to Judie Fullmer, Kathy Evenson-Howard
and Debbie Johnson who have been with us since day one. Other
longtime instructors are Franne Kaplan, Anna Cohen, Ginny Mills,
Victoria Lambrakis, Rick German and Abay Best. We can’t forget
our front desk guys – Mike Smith, Merv Benton, John C. and
Chuck Beaston and our new maintenance staff member Chris Tinoco.
And our tenants Iskra Balchev – Massage, Henry Adams – Salon,
Joseph Casadas – Therapy, Lauren Vaughan – Aesthetician,
Lori Lewis – Swim and Jared Jacobs – MOJO Tennis.
We have some of the greatest members and staff and we thank you
for your support and we will certainly miss you!!

Racquetball Courts  Racquetball Courts are open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 6:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.  (One court is available with extended hours. Please call in advance to reserve.)
Please be advised that the Racquetball Courts are locked and a reservation is required to receive the lock combination.

• Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis. Reservations may be made
  in person or by calling: Oro Valley Aquatics Center Office/James D. Kriegh Park 520-297-SWIM (7946)
  
• Mon-Fri 5:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; Sat 6:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Sun 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  
• The Town of Oro Valley's Programs will receive priority scheduling.  Courts are available for public use during non-program hours.
• Users will be required to read facility rules and sign a liability waiver before receiving the lock combination.
• Racquetball Courts can be reserved up to two (2) hours for play.
• Court Rental Fees: A fee of $2.00 per hour shall be charged for each hour of use.  (times determined by the Parks and Recreation Department depend on season).
  Fall/Winter (Sept.–Feb.): 6–9 a.m.; 5–10 p.m.
  Spring/Summer (Mar.–Aug.): (No Morning Fee; / 7–10 p.m.
• Rental Fees: A fee of $1.00 per Racquet along with $.50 cents per ball will be assessed should rental be required.
